I don’t like exercise! What should I do? A Client Testimonial.

My beautiful online PT Client wrote a wonderful piece about how she started in fitness with me, having had a negative self-image and attitude to training.

Merry Haarder – Online Client, Copenhagen Denmark

I love watching rubbish TV – stuff like ‘say yes to the dress’, ‘Keeping up with the Kardashian’, ‘Real Housewives’ etc. But it creates a very poor and unrealistic ideal of the perfect body. I am a working mom with 2 kids, and a very active social life. I Love going out with my kids, and eating out with friends, or entertaining at our house. And I am a perfectionist. I want it all: the figure, the social life, the perfect family, the career. So I am really hard on myself, and finding balance has always been my weakness. I am not the best runner – in fact I suck at it, and it annoys me that people can go out for a 10k casual run 3 times a week and say how much they loved the peace and quiet and the ‘me-time’ and how time just flew by. For me it’s the opposite – I count every minute, every step and hate every second of that dreaded run. There is no downtime in it for me – I get stressed out from it and have always been super self-critical about why I am seriously so terrible at something that everyone else seems to manage easily. Well you know what – I met Fiona, and now I just don’t give a crap anymore. And that’s a good thing. Let me explain what Fiona taught me:

  1. Stop being my own worst critic. ‘I Rock’.
  2. Find a sport that you enjoy. Running is not for everyone. Exercise and keeping healthy is so much easier and enjoyable when you love the time you dedicate to it.
  3. Slow and steady is perfectly fine.
  4. I might run very slowly, but I get out and do something, and that’s better for me than not trying and sitting on the couch.
  5. Balance is the key.
  6. You don’t need a scale. The number should not be the end goal. It will be a result of achieving a far more rewarding goal.
  7. You can train anywhere in the world with your personal trainer! – and that’s the best thing about training with Fiona.

As a result of training with Fiona, I am fitter, more toned, happier, have more energy to spend with my kids and in my life, and have started refocusing my energy on the things that matter, and not caring so much about the other nonsense. I can train at times that suit me and am not bound by the gym class timetable and number of spaces available in the class. Fiona is an excellent trainer who is able to work with anyone. She focusses on technique and avoiding injury, and on finding exercise that works for you personally.

Being fit and healthy is a universal desire, and thanks to Fiona and her online coaching, anyone, anywhere in the world can have it!
